Position Overview:
Fractal is seeking a hands-on Agentic QA Developer to help build and implement AI-powered quality engineering capabilities for our client environment. This role combines strong QA automation experience with practical experience building AI agents that improve testing and software delivery workflows. You will develop and enhance QA agents, automate web, and API testing, and apply agentic AI to reduce manual effort and improve engineering productivity.
The ideal candidate is an experienced QA automation engineer or SDET who has moved beyond traditional test automation and has hands-on experience building AI agents using modern agent platforms and frameworks. You will work closely with client stakeholders and engineering teams, including distributed development teams, to implement scalable QA automation and agentic solutions. This role will focus on developing new QA agents and automation capabilities as well as implementing, supporting, and improving adoption of the QA platform in the client environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, configure, and enhance AI agents that automate QA and software testing workflows.
- Develop and maintain automated tests for web and API applications using Playwright, Appium, and API testing tools.
- Implement agentic QA use cases such as converting requirements into test scenarios, accelerating test automation, and using defect or test data to generate actionable insights.
- Create and maintain automation scripts using JavaScript or TypeScript and integrate automated testing into existing engineering workflows.
- Validate UI, API, and end-to-end application functionality through a combination of automated and targeted manual testing.
- Work with developers, product owners, QA engineers, and client stakeholders to identify coverage needs and translate testing challenges into practical automation and AI solutions.
- Troubleshoot QA automation and platform issues, identify root causes, and implement changes or improvements.
- Support adoption of agentic QA capabilities by helping teams integrate new workflows and resolve implementation issues.
- Create and maintain test plans, test cases, test scenarios, technical documentation, and project artifacts.
- Identify, document, and track software defects and collaborate with delivery teams through resolution.
- Contribute effectively as part of a distributed engineering team while working closely with client stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of software testing or quality engineering experience, including hands-on UI, and/or API test automation.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience building or implementing AI agents for engineering, QA, or software delivery workflows.
- Experience with one or more agentic AI platforms or frameworks such as Azure AI Foundry, LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, or n8n.
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright test automation using JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience with Appium or comparable mobile test automation tooling.
- Hands-on API testing experience using tools such as Postman and a strong understanding of web services and REST APIs.
- Strong understanding of QA processes, the software testing lifecycle, SDLC models, defect lifecycle, test case design, and test scenario development.
- Experience creating functional test plans and test coverage from requirements that may be lightly defined.
- Working knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines, including experience executing automated test suites through pipeline workflows.
- Working knowledge of SQL and the ability to write queries using joins.
- Experience using Jira and Confluence for defect management, workflows, documentation, and project artifacts.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a testing mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve existing QA methods and automation.
- Ability to work directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a client-facing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying GenAI or agentic AI to test generation, automation development, defect analysis, or QA productivity.
- Experience with AWS environments or cloud-based application testing.
- Experience implementing AI or automation capabilities for enterprise clients.
- Experience supporting adoption, implementation, or troubleshooting of an internal QA platform or developer productivity platform.
- Experience working with globally distributed or offshore engineering teams.
