Position Overview
The Telemetry Data Engineer will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and optimizing observability solutions to ensure operational visibility across devices and environments. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to collect telemetry data, automate monitoring workflows, and enable lifecycle management through scalable system integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and maintain device telemetry collection using syslogs, webhooks, and REST APIs, with an emphasis on direct device communication and evaluating emerging standards.
Develop automation scripts and orchestration workflows to support event-driven diagnostics and real-time remediation.
Collaborate with teams on inventory mapping and configuration compliance to ensure alignment with room design standards and device lifecycle policies.
Build and support monitoring dashboards, alerting systems, and aggregation layers to reflect room health and operational SLIs.
Integrate environmental sensor data and camera feeds for comprehensive health monitoring that goes beyond technical metrics.
Partner with product, operations, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration with organizational tools and reporting platforms.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
Proven hands-on experience for 5+ years with device telemetry, monitoring systems, and IoT infrastructure.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or similar.
Strong understanding of network protocols including s\yslogs, SNMP, and webhooks.
Experience with automation and orchestration tools in enterprise environments.
Familiarity with monitoring dashboards and alerting frameworks (e.g., Grafana, Kibana, SCUBA).
Experience in lifecycle management of hardware and software assets.
Strong problem-solving abilities and experience working in cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
