Senior Data Engineer - Healthcare & Benefits

We are hiring a Senior Data Engineer to lead the technical design and implementation of our foundational healthcare data platform. You'll design and build the system that ingests, models, and activates raw claims, eligibility, clinical, HR, and engagement data using SQL, dbt, Python, and Dagster. You'll be deeply involved in creating a dynamic data platform that enables large-scale data exchange across the benefits ecosystem.

This role is for builders: you will spend most of your time hands-on with data and code, working closely with a tight-knit team of engineers and scientists to build the platform. You’ll excel if you thrive on taking ideas from conception to production and thinking about critical questions around scale and performance.

You will:

• Lead the design of our centralized data platform built with Dagster, dbt, and Airbyte
• Develop scalable implementations of per-client data platform deployments, with a strong emphasis on reusability and automation
• Own data pipelines (including claims, eligibility, HR, engagement, clinical, and more) connecting clients and vendors
• Troubleshoot data issues and work directly with client/vendor technical teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Implement reusable data models and quality frameworks that reduce custom work across clients.
• Partner with Product to inform product and AI roadmap.

Qualifications and Skills

• 6+ years experience in data engineering or similar roles
• 6+ years experience with SQL and Python
• 3+ years experience with dbt and Dagster
• Expert proficiency with modern ETL/ELT tools and practices
• Past experience building data platforms
• Ability to work independently in ambiguous, evolving environments
• Prove ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex data quality issues
• Prior experience developing and leading complex technical projects from end to end

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in the healthcare, benefits, and/or health insurance sector, and strong familiarity with those concepts
• Past experience working in early-stage startups
• Understanding of data exchange protocols (SFTP, APIs, HL7, EDI)

Compensation and Benefits

• Compensation range: $150,000 / year - $170,000 / year
