Description

Step into a leadership role for skilled security teams at one of the world's largest and most powerful corporations.

As a Manager of IAM Security Architecture at JPMorgan Chase within the Cybersecurity Technology and Controls, you lead a team of security architects responsible for assessing and influencing identity solutions across the enterprise. You’ll hire and develop talent, set team priorities, and partner with engineering leaders, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure our identity infrastructure is secure. Your team doesn’t build or operate IAM platforms—they assess them for security risks and influence their architecture.

Job responsibilities

  • Hire, develop, and retain security architects specializing in IGA, Authentication/Authorization, PAM, and Cloud IAM.
  • Set team priorities, allocate resources, and manage assessment backlogs to focus on the highest-risk areas.
  • Collaborate with engineering, application, and cloud platform teams to integrate security assessments into delivery processes.
  • Communicate assessment findings, team value, and risk posture to senior leadership, compliance, and audit stakeholders.
  • Ensure consistent assessment methodologies across domains while allowing for domain-specific expertise.
  • Support career development and growth opportunities for team members, including emerging areas like non-human identity and cloud-native IAM.
  • Position the team as trusted advisors by building credibility and strong partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure alignment with compliance and audit needs.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  • Identify and address skill gaps to strengthen team capabilities.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Promote continuous improvement in assessment processes and team performance.
  • Formal training or certification on security concepts and 5+ years of applied experience in cybersecurity or identity and access management, with 3+ years in a people management role
  • Experience managing technical teams (security architects, engineers, or similar); track record of hiring, developing, and retaining talent
  • Background in at least one IAM domain (IGA, Authentication/Authorization, PAM, or Cloud IAM)—enough to guide technical discussions and support architects
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with engineering partners and influence without authority
  • Experience with regulated environments (SOX, PCI-DSS, NYDFS) and working with compliance/audit stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills—can represent the team to senior leadership and translate technical findings for non-technical audiences

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience with security architecture or threat modeling, understands the assessment work the team does
  • Background in multiple IAM domains (not required, but helpful for cross-domain leadership)
  • Experience building teams from scratch or significantly scaling existing teams
  • Familiarity with emerging IAM challenges: non-human identity, cloud-native IAM, machine identity governance
  • Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM) are valued but not required
  • Background in financial services or other highly regulated industries or Security
