Job Overview

 

Coupang’s Proactive Security Team has a mission to keep Coupang secure by performing proactive activities that will prevent or mitigate potential security risks due to Threat Actors.

We are looking for a senior technical leader for a new function "Insider Threat Counter Operation" (ITCO) in our Seattle or Mountain View offices. That team will simulate insider threat scenarios focused on testing the effectiveness of our data governance controls, classification, and response capabilities.

The successful candidate will be someone with experience leading an offensive security or insider threat program in the past and capable of hire, develop, and retain the best, build an effective function, work across groups to deliver business impact, and is not afraid to dive deep when needed.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: 

  • Provide expertise and leadership in the team.
  • Help build a great team by retaining and hiring the best and positively shaping team culture.
  • Design and execute adversarial campaigns or Red Team style assessments against data governance controls.
  • Drive the evolution of the team by overseeing strategy, roadmaps, and driving execution.
  • Inspire teams to raise the bar on delivery but also define and deliver initiatives to improve maturity.
  • Dive deep when necessary to lead by example.

 

Basic Qualifications

 

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in offensive operations or within an insider threat program. 5+ years of managerial experience.
  • In-depth experience within an insider threat program or alternatively, an in-depth understanding of Threat Actor Attack Simulation, penetration testing and offensive security in general.
  • Knowledge about and experience with security and insider threat trends, breaches and defense techniques and malware.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Able to analyze, understand and predict cyber threat trends with long-term vision.
  • Proven experience leading a team within an insider threat program, Red Team or threat actor attack simulation function.
  • Fluent in English and native Korean proficiency.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • E-commerce industry-specific security threat expertise.
  • Background in data governance operations, digital forensic or legal holds.
  • Experience with DSPM solutions, forensic toolsets, Microsoft Purview/Google Vault, CASB or SIEM platforms.
  • Familiarity with Korean laws and regulation.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced international enterprise
  • Experience in cloud environments like AWS and understanding the differences between Cloud and traditional data center environments.
  • Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical Degree
  • Holder of well-recognized security certifications (e.g. CISSP, SANS,  …)

 

Pay & Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.

The base pay for this position ranges from $159,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $324,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
