We ensure that advertisers using self-service advertising applications can answers or solutions through our robust Help products, our LLM-driven chatbot, or through our WW network of contact centers. We're seeking an exceptional Data Engineer to revolutionize Amazon Advertising's data architecture, offering you the opportunity to deliver end-to-end solutions with immediate impact across our systems. In this unique role, you'll architect sophisticated data infrastructure using AWS technologies and Amazon's proprietary tools, directly influencing how millions of advertisers experience our advertising console while handling massive datasets that support our rapidly growing business.

As a key solution provider, you'll partner with business leaders, engineering teams, data scientists, and analysts to design and implement scalable data pipelines that transform raw advertising data into actionable insights, tackle real-time processing challenges, and ensure data stability and accuracy. You'll leverage your expertise in Python, EMR, Spark, Iceberg, Airflow, and AWS services (Glue, Athena, Redshift) to build innovative solutions that power critical business decisions. Working at the intersection of technology and business strategy, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure your technical solutions align perfectly with business objectives while optimizing the advertiser experience.

Key job responsibilities
Our Data Engineer duties & responsibilities will include:
* Work with stakeholders to understand the business questions and define requirements and build out scalable data solutions. Be the bridge between teams - you'll work closely with business, science, and engineering folks to turn their data needs into reality.
* Drive the backbone of our data systems by building robust pipelines that turn complex data into actionable insights using AWS and Amazon's internal tools.
* Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources; and influence upstream and partner data teams to ensure the data solutions built for our team are reliable.
* Manage AWS resources including EC2, EMR, S3, Glue, Redshift, etc.
* Explore, learn and adopt the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency.
* Keep our data fortress secure by implementing smart governance and security measures that protect sensitive information.
* Create user-friendly data products that help teams make better decisions through analytics and experimentation
* Work with cool tech like Python, Spark, Airflow, and various AWS services to build end-to-end data solutions that bring different systems together.

About the team
Advertiser Support Products & Services’ (SP&S) mission is to provide the right support and services at the right time to ensure advertisers can effectively grow their business with Amazon. High-quality support interactions address immediate issues and unlock future business opportunity. For self-service advertisers, this includes providing education in their moment of need, resolving issues they encounter, and predicting needs in order to offer recommendations that correct issues or accelerate their business. The team aims to predict Advertisers problems and proactively surface intelligent guidance to customers at the right time.

- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience building large-scale, high-throughput, 24x7 data systems
- Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Experience with SQL

- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
