Job Description

Are you passionate about using data to solve complex business problems? As a Data Analyst 2 on the Inventory Optimization team, you will play a critical role in shaping how we manage inventory across Nordstrom's network. You'll work on high-impact projects related to inventory control, returns, and intra-network movement. This role is perfect for a curious and proactive analyst who loves diving deep into data, uncovering insights, and translating them into actionable strategies. You will collaborate closely with leaders in Supply Chain, Inventory, Merchandising, Data Science, Product Management and Engineering influencing inventory strategies that support all customer journeys.  

A Day in the Life 

  • Partner with key stakeholders on data analysis problems and identify opportunities for improvement through root cause analysis. You'll take ownership of these projects, driving solutions and scaling them for repeatability. 

  • Apply common statistical methods, data modeling, and predictive analysis to optimize inventory balance across all channels and locations. 

  • Analyze data and make informed recommendations, leveraging business knowledge to identify trends and opportunities, ensuring continuous progress. 

  • Develop and maintain production dashboards and reporting resources surfacing critical KPIs 

  • Use advanced data visualization techniques to clearly communicate complex findings and solutions to business stakeholders. 

  • Provide exceptional customer service by taking initiative and ownership of your work. 

  • Demonstrate productivity through efficient time management and a commitment to delivering strong results. 

  • Establish a positive work environment conducive to collaboration and teamwork. 

 

You Own This If You Have 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field; advanced degree a plus.  

  • 2+ years of related work experience extracting, manipulating, and analyzing data and delivering business insights.  

  • Proficiency in SQL and able to productionize SQL scripts with minimal guidance.  Working knowledge of advanced functions in SQL.    

  • Ability to conduct analyses with complex analytical storytelling & recommendations by creating a narrative that can be used by business to enact changeCondenses technical findings for both technical/non audiences and highlights tradeoffs.   

  • Strong data visualization skills in Tableau, Looker or complementary visualization tools to build self-service dashboards for end users.   

  • Experience using visualizations to summarize large amounts of data & highlight key insights for stakeholders. Combines statistical knowledge with graphical design to create informative, compelling visualizations.   

  • Ability to develop strong relationships with a multitude of partners and stakeholders across diverse domains and functions.   

  • Communicates effectively both formally and informally with stakeholders with guidance.  

  • Knowledge of merchandise, inventory and supply chain planning systems a plus  

  • Knowledge of financial and/or operational metrics and KPIs a plus.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations. 
Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$87,500.00 - $145,500.00 Annual
